Einride and Bring first in Sweden to electrify liner traffic - will reduce emissions by 78 percent

10.14.2021

October 13, 2021 - Bring enters into a major collaboration with tech company Einride. The new effort means that Bring will be first in Sweden to switch to electricity in its liner traffic, and is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 78 percent compared to driving with Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil biodiesel (HVO).

The collaboration includes the implementation of Einride’s entire platform, including transport with smart electric trucks that will operate in Jönköping and Gothenburg, among other places. Starting at the beginning of next year, the investment is part of Bring’s ambition to have completely fossil-free deliveries by 2025.

“This collaboration makes us the first in Sweden to electrify our liner traffic. If all goes well, we will electrify a large part of our business and reduce our emissions significantly,” says Hanna Jonasson, operating manager at Bring.

The collaboration is expected to give Bring a carbon dioxide saving of 78 percent. The calculation is based on the electric cars replacing trucks that today travel the same distance on HVO.

“This is part of our electrification promise and investment of billions to drive Sweden's transition to more sustainable transport. It is also a first step in a long-term innovation collaboration with a company that, like us, puts sustainability and business benefits first. We look forward to working with Bring to help them achieve their sustainability goals and secure the future of the business through digitization, electrification and automation,” says Jonas Hernlund, Chief Commercial Officer at Einride.

The intelligent electric trucks with trailers are connected to Einride’s platform for planning and streamlining routes, energy consumption and cost. If you count the production of the cars and the savings that are made daily, Bring will reach break even in CO2e emissions after eleven months.
